Cost-efficiency through Hansel

Finavia /Åke Lindström

Finavia Corporation is a public listed company wholly owned by the Finnish state. Finavia maintains and develops a network of 24 airports and the Finnish air navigation system.

It acquires its company cars via ALD Automotive in accordance with the Hansel framework agreement. Hansel's bidding process provides Finavia and other companies within the scope of the Hansel agreement with highly competitive prices. “We started our cooperation in terms of company cars with ALD at the beginning of the 2000s. Hansel has entered vehicles into competitive bidding and, therefore, we are following Hansel's list of vehicles. Hansel offers such low prices that it would be senseless to get our vehicles from elsewhere. Bidding processes would also take unnecessary time,” Lindström says.

According to Lindström, a single-partner model is important when it comes to car procurement. “In our activities, we aim to have as few partners as possible. The volume of invoices and their processing alone costs money,” Lindström says.

GTK / Pekka Väisänen

In 2014, the vehicles of the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) accumulated a mileage of a little higher than 1.8 million kilometres. GTK requires different types of vehicles suitable for various measurements, surveys and samples carried out in the terrain.

GTK acquires its cars from ALD Automotive in accordance with the Hansel framework agreement. Agreements entered in competitive bidding by Hansel, the government's central purchasing body, produce savings from car-related expenses. Väisänen also wishes to thank the Hansel ordering system for its ease of use. “Hansel's ordering system is easy to use. It is easy to print out price calculations, and we are always aware of the status of our orders. For GTK, the greatest advantages of Hansel are its ease of use and the time it saves us as we do not need to enter everything in our own bidding processes,” Väisänen says.

When preparing budgets, the benefit of service leasing is that it offers reliable cost information beforehand. The agreement interval being four years, GTK has access to new and reliable cars at all times. “In terms of administration, it is easier to have all car-related matters centralised in a single partner. Invoices are consolidated, it is easier to monitor costs and actual costs can easily be allocated to specific projects within our organisation,” Väisänen says.
